The Tarot, numerology, dreams, meditation, candle magick and the Law of Attraction made easy: the key is to keep it simple.

Whether we are talking about the tarot, or numerology, or candle magick, or connecting to the inner voice, or figuring out dreams, there are so many ways to approach each subject, some more involved than others.  For example, if you were to visit a few different psychics/readers, you will notice that some will hand the Tarot deck to you to shuffle while others prefer to keep the deck to themselves...a very personal choice for the reader...but unless I am reading over a distance (which is an entirely different kettle of fish), if you are sitting right in front of me, you get the deck! After all, for me, this is about your energy and your life, so who better to apply energy to the oracle! Another comment on 'reading' the Tarot...I do not read inverted meanings as the story told by the Tarot is complete as is and adding another 78 meanings simply confuses the issue. Keep it simple!

Similarly, when it comes to numerology, to me, the simpler, the better. The system that I use, Chaldean numerology, is complete unto itself and does not require extraneous calculations to reveal character, likes and dislikes, pinnacles, peaks, valleys and lifepaths: it is all revealed with one basic chart. Have a look at the Chaldean Chart:

 Pythagorian ChartChaldean Chart

You will notice that the Pythagorian chart appears simpler in that the alphabet is sequential in relation to the number scale. Now it may sound like I am contradicting myself: the Chaldean chart, while non-sequential, and not assigning letters to the number 9, is ultimately the simpler system in that it reveals all that needs to be revealed in a complete name analysis and birthpath addition and does not require additional sub calculations involving vowels and consonants. So although more difficult to learn, it is the more direct and accurate system of the two and once learned, it is very easy to use. (My book, 'Babylon's Secret - The Truth about your Name', provides a basic trick to make memorizing the chart extremely easy. If you are interested in more details, email me!...see contact info.) In fact, it is hinted that this is the exact reason that Pythagorus sequentialized it: the original system was too complicated to use or remember. However, my take on the system keeps it simple.

Candle magick is another example of a ritual which can request excessive preparations: a salt bath, fasting for 24 hours, being skyclad (or butt naked), casting circles...etc, etc. While this may be good for some, it is not necessary. When performing candle magick, which is a simple ritual that extends back thousands of years, one need only be clear of mind and body (not under the influence of drugs of any kind), filled with keen and pure desire, and respectful of the powers that we cannot see. The only thing I would suggest when performing a ritual of any kind is to surround yourself with protective energy by requesting that 'only energies of Christ Consciousness be present' and that 'no harm come to another or myself' as a result of your undertaking. Indeed, when performing any kind of energy work, the focus should ideally be on improvement of the self, or to request assistance that is based in dire need. Again, simplicity is the goal. (See Working with Candles on the menu bar).

Connecting to the Cosmic Parent, or Universe via the intuition is also often made more involved than it needs to be. Some suggest that one must 'meditate'...play soft meditation music, murmer a repetitive phrase, burn incense, clear your chakras one by one, ground thyself and so on. Again, all of my observations are based on personal experience and everyone has different ways of doing things, but if you are interested in anything metaphysical, there is no need for padding. When attempting meditation, just sit with yourself and be aware of your thoughts, then slowly try to 'tune out' all the chatter, the goal being to empty your mind sufficiently enough to allow messages 'of spirit' to whisper in your ear. This takes time and practice and in the meantime, becoming aware of what you are thinking and where your thoughts tend to go is illuminating as well. For example, you may become aware of negative thought patterns, or worrying or stressing. As James Allen said (if I may paraphrase): 'as a (wo)man thinketh, so is s/he'...your thoughts dictate your circumstances and attract all things to you, good and bad. That is the simple truth of the matter...what you pay attention to, you draw to yourself. As the saying goes, "Energy flows where attention goes..."

Have you ever noticed that, if you really and truly want/need something and focus on it and think about it and yearn for it, that it has a way of manifesting in one form or another? That is another subject which is made more complicated than it needs to be: the Law of Attraction, and I know I am getting side-tracked, but this'll just take a sec. If you want something, here is what you do. First, ascertain what it is and why you want it. Does the reason feel right to you? Is this something you want so intensely that you can feel the excitement or reality of getting it? Can you imagine actually having it? What I am talking about is the sense of jelly in your belly - emotional investment! That is the trick of the Law. First, you must decide exactly what you want...be specific. Then, you must feel it as though it is real, as though you already have it. Then, you must be grateful: sincerely grateful for what the Universe has given you. The Universe is like a giant order catalogue, but you need to know how to access the system in order to successfully place your order. And once you have placed your order, you have to let it go. Imagine blowing all of your desires into a balloon and then holding on to the string. The Universe cannot work with your desires when they are still clenched in your hand. You must LET IT GO! Which means let go of the balloon string, forget about it, go on with your life, go out on a date, have a bubble bath...whatever. Just carry on.  I used to believe that one should tell everyone about their desires or 'orders' they have placed with the Universe, however, I now believe that only certain people should be included in this revelation and those would be people who are somehow connected in some way to your desire and/or are supportive of it.  A desire voiced gives it more power...the Universe supports the energy it hears, whether it comes from one person or a mass thought pattern, but the energies of others who are personally involved with you can throw jealousy, ridicule or disbelief into the mix, which can dilute the original strength of the 'order'. (I am just listening and watching the inauguration of President Obama on the telly, and the energy and sense of hope that is currently radiating around the world is almost palpable...I can feel it...this is a primarily positive energy and will temporarily block negative energies...such is the power of mass thought and emotion.) Okay, now I must add the final ingredient in this process, and it is often the killer faction. It causes people to give up, lose focus, stop believing and sink back into the mundane: in order to receive the request, you must wait as long as it takes to get here. Ready? You must have the patience of Job. I am not kidding, here. The Universe works on its own schedule and there is no such thing as 'time' by our standards. It will get here when it gets here and not before. So the greatest test in this Law is the waiting and the maintaining of belief. Giving up is not an option, for after having put so much into working with the Law, abandoning your faith will bring nothing positive. So hang in there! It will happen! And be prepared, also, that the Universe may deliver something slightly different than what you ordered...that happens, too. So it would be appropriate to add here...be careful what you wish for! The simpler, the better!

        Here's your choice

Taking the Law of Attraction to another level: many people thinking or hoping or wanting or yearning for the same thing creates that thing, or, at least, helps it on its way. (That is another reason I wrote my book: to offer a way for each of us to core down to our inner selves and to accept and love that self...this is the only way a group of like-hearted people can join together to create a positive and loving and powerful thought energy). Consider the election of Mr. Obama. Seems to me that enough folks yearned for change, for a new direction and for a positive, effective and respected leader. And it would appear that this mass desire was so strong that it actually placed the first black man in office, an historical event in and of itself. It is a pretty astounding example of the Law in mass action.

As far as listening to your intuition, just listen! You will know when something or someone doesn't 'feel' right to you...it just takes awareness of that feeling and enough trust in a greater power to follow that feeling. If something feels right: do it. If it doesn't, don't.

This idea of keeping it simple extends to dreams, as well. The first thing that needs to be understood is that you are the author, director, set designer and actor ([s] - you play all the parts) of all your dreams. There are  few tricks involved in figuring dreams out as well, the first being to jot down as much as you remember upon awakening because, trust me, by the time you reach the bathroom, you have already lost 75% of the content. If you can, try to lay still for a few minutes before getting out of bed, without opening your eyes or moving and cast your mind back into the dream. Focus on the key ingredients and actions. The more you retrieve before getting up, the more you will recall. Now, the most important thing about the dream is how you felt while experiencing the dream. Were you frightened? Curious? Excited? Sad? What? Pinpoint the emotion. The next step is to identify the key symbols in the dream. Are you on a boat? In a car? Are you the passenger, or the driver? (The driver is in control; the passenger is just along for the ride...in other words, if you are a passenger in your own car, something or someone else is 'driving' your life or its direction.) Perhaps you are golfing? (Do you like golf, or is it something your husband is constantly away pursuing?) Or swimming? (Are you sinking? Or winning a race?) You can see where I am going with this, right?

at times my dreams speak clear and bright

at times they sneak in the dark of the night

then linger under pale moon light

and dance in the mist, just beyond sight...

Come up with a possible theme for the dream and keep it simple. The initial place to look for meaning is at any events that have occurred during the last 48 to 72 hours, as a vast majority of dreams are comments on something that happened during the last few days. If that doesn't seem to fit, then look to your life situation...the people in it, the job you have, the place you live...the connections are almost limitless from my point of view because each person has their own unique story. I do not suggest looking up meanings in a dream book, although this can be generally informative...if you do not consciously already connect the meanings for the symbols in a dream book to your own life, then they are, essentially, meaningless. How I view and react to a cat, for example, may not be the same for you. Dreams are extremely personal and their translation is particular to the dreamer in terms of symbols and feelings. And by the way, nightmares are your subconscious trying to 'get your attention' and generally follow previous dreams of a similar nature that have been ignored.

I truly believe that life is complicated enough already without our adding to the confusion. So, in all things, I make a concerted effort to keep things as easy and uncomplicated as possible. Sometimes I fail; sometimes things have a life and momentum of their own and cannot be controlled, but more often, some level of simplification is possible. So, I wish you simplicity, or, a kiss.
