What is Tarot and how does it work?
A few hundred years ago, a tarot reading might be held in the musty caravan of a mysterious gypsy or in the velvety backroom parlour of a shadowy mansion. Often fear and ridicule accompanied such meetings, perhaps due to misunderstanding the nature of divination, which is simply the processing of 'connecting' to the 'power' that we all know is out there, but are sometimes reluctant to acknowledge. Tarot readings are all about connecting with the self and with that 'power', especially when the path and challenge of life becomes confusing, or one finds oneself at a 'crossroads' and in need of guidance from an objective source, or, a conduit. My readings are not held in a caravan, however, they are held in a rather funky, candle-lit, private and comfortable room. So, back to what is Tarot, exactly? It's origin is unknown, although it is suspected to have originated in China, or Italy or France, depending who you believe. Wherever it came from, it has evolved over the years to become the Tarot we now know - a collection of 78 cards bearing illustrations that tell the story of a character called 'The Fool'. This first card is not numbered and the 21 cards that follow depict major life experiences and adventures that 'The Fool' encounters as s/he travels the road of life. This section of the deck is called the 'Major Arcana' and refers to major life events. The remaining 56 cards are called the'Minor Arcana' and flesh out the bigger, life changing energies of the 22 Majors with more mundane or 'filler' type of connective information. When laid out, these cards tell 'stories' that are particular to the client. The first deck I ever used (which was left to me by a powerful spiritual woman) was called 'The Parlour Sibyl'. This deck was so packed with energy when I received it that I almost could not handle it...literally, I mean! The energies within that Tarot set were amazing and hooked me forever on the mystery and magick of 'reading the cards'. I remember sitting on the carpet with all 78 cards spread out around me and experiencing one of those 'aha' moments. I knew, without a doubt, that this was my path. Twenty five years later, I am still reading and still hold the cards and their messages in the highest regard as I have seen and relayed messages which seemed, at the time, odd to say the least, but which have been proven true and accurate time and again...even the ones that seemed the most 'out there'. That I respect the source of information which is presented by the cards and read by me would be an understatement of the highest order. The Magic Castle, Hollywood...perfect for a reading...boo! Nowadays, one can choose from a variety of Tarot decks, including Egyptian, yoga, angel, Goddess, vampire, Alice in Wonderland or even the Peanut comic strip Tarot. Almost any subject can be made into a Tarot Deck. (I am even working on my own version based on Chaldean numerology...working, I said. Might take awhile yet.) Myself, I prefer the classic Rider-Waite Deck as it is very direct and easy for my clients to follow as I lead them through their readings. This is very important to me as it allows the clients to verify for themselves what is being said or read. The other deck I gravitate towards is The Tarot of the 78 Doors and for a very simple reason...I never get through a day without saying 'when one door closes, another opens!' Tarot of the 78 Doors The Tarot is simply an instrument used by the diviner, or reader, to assist in deciphering messages...there are as many decks as there are readers and if you should find yourself desiring to own a deck, go with the one you are the most attracted, or drawn to. Let your intuition guide you. If you are of the old belief that a deck must be gifted to you, you may be waiting a long time! Just go get one! A classic reading room, circa 1930 READING THE CARDS And how do I do it? Well, as most of you already know, everything in this world cores down to energy. First, I clear the deck of your choice (yes, you have a choice of decks), then the deck goes to you. You focus on your thoughts, concerns and questions while shuffling, then cut the deck and it comes back to me for the layout. From there, I let my guides take over. (The best way to describe it is that 'Heather goes on the back burner'...I become a conduit of sorts). I simply 'read' the layout and its layers (reading is like peeling an onion: there are so many layers and connections that there is no such thing, for me anyhow, of just reading the surface cards). Since I am also a numerologist, the numbers of the cards themselves and the numbers in your name also come into play. It is a simple, yet complex undertaking which has become second nature to me. The forecast generally extends 6 months (who really wants to know what will happen in two years? We only have the present and free will and energy shifts are always at play...consider 2012. Check this out under '2012 Fact or Fiction' on the menu bar if you do not know what I am referring to) and gives you the most likely outcome of any given situation providing the energies remain the same and you, yourself, do not decide to change course abruptly. Nothing is set in stone. While we are not ultimately in absolute control, we do have room to move (free will) and can take actions which can dramatically affect our lives in negative ways. (This would be illustrated by going against your 'gut feeling', or intuition.) Direct questions can also be addressed (using a different spread). When reading over a distance, all I require is your name and birthdate...since all things hold energy and your name is no different, I sit with your name and your enquiry for while, then simply lay out the cards. According to my long distance clients, the accuracy of email readings is downright spooky, while phone reads are very similar to person to person reads as our voice energies are interacting. Chaldean Numerology and Onomancy As far as numerology goes, there are only two systems that I know of and the general public is primarily only familiar with one. Pythagorean numerology is approximately 3000 years old and is attributed to the Greek mathematician, Pythagorus. His method was simple: count out 1 through 26 and apply the letters of the alphabet underneath in their natural order. However! Many moons ago, I was gifted with a very special source of information about another numerology system: the TRUE numerology system: Chaldean (see 'CHALDEAN LETTER/NUMBER/LIFEPATH' pages on the menu bar) Since that time, I have investigated, practiced, studied and turned this system inside out and upside down. It has proven itself over and over to be the more accurate of the two systems. Again, an understatement. There is no doubt in my mind that this ancient system, sometimes called Mystic numerology, is the genuine forerunner to the more conventional system used today. A Chaldean numerology reading reveals you to yourself...it tells you about YOU and what your energy is aligned to accomplish or learn or achieve in this lifetime. It is fascinating, even awe-inspiring at times and there is no other method of introspective divination like it. Do yourself a wonderful favour and check it out, either with me, or online (although there are a few sources there, few books on the subject exist... which is why I wrote my own! It is called 'Babylon's Secret - The Truth About Your Name')...there is most definitely more to your name than you might ever have imagined. To view the two different charts, please go to Keeping it Simple on the menu bar. Reading your Name Numerology readings involve two simple things: the name you are currently using (even if it is not your legal name) and your day and month of birth. I do the rest. Each of your names, first, middle and last, carry an overall energy and sub energies, based on the letters (reading the letters is called onomancy) and the number values of each. Your first name reveals your public persona, your middle reveals who you truly are and your last reveals domestic ties through the male hierarchy of that family name. Of course, there is a heck of alot more to it - the letters in your name all 'vibrate' when spoken (this is one of the main differences between the Chaldean system and the conventional one-the focus of the energy held in letters and the meanings of those letters: D means something different than E, for example...check out the letter meanings of both on the menu bar). So when the meanings of the individual letters in your names are combined with their numeric values and those meanings...well, let's just say a blueprint of your life emerges: strengths and weaknesses, lessons requiring learning, talents, likes and dislikes, patterns that explain recurring events, personal messages to you, upcoming phases or likely events...and, the truth of why you, personally, are here. I think that is the most often asked question in the world. 'Why am I here?' Well, Chaldean numerology can finally provide the answer to your question. It did for me, and the answer made me laugh because it was so simple, so to-the-point and so darn true. During the consultation, I construct a chart for you, showing the different values in each of your names and their connections. And then I talk. For awhile. You may want to bring a tape recorder. I also have drafts of my book available should you decide to investigate this phenomenonal resource further. Numerology can and should be used in daily life...that new house you are thinking of buying , for example, could be completely wrong for you vibrationally speaking and living in an opposing energy home will bring nothing but disharmony...anyone or anything you choose to align yourself with should, ideally, match your own energy levels and knowing the numbers, at the very least, will assist you tremendously in achieving balance in many areas of your life. These types of readings are easily done from a distance, since all I need is your complete name and dob...the results can be easily dictated to tape. Please do not hesitate to call/email me if you have any questions about my services. Just register or check out my contact info. We are all in this thing together...let's help each other out. Hugs from ...everything is exactly as it should be...relax!
